Android 4.4.3 Is Out Now, Nexus 5 Up First
#eAKN
The next version of Android 4.4 KitKat has launched today through Sprint, but what does it bring with it?
Android 4.4.3 KitKat has arrived today and first to receive it is Nexus 5 handsets which are on US network Sprint. The update brings with it the ability for the handset to use Sprint’s LTE network on bands 26 and 41.
Apart from that, Android 4.4.3 just brings about more bug fixes. There’s no major feature or UI changes involved which is what was predicted. Sprint Nexus 5 owners will find the version KTU48F under their system updates.
Google hasn’t added this news onto its list of Nexus devices just yet but you’ll find all the details on Sprint’s website.
Hopefully this means Google will begin a roll-out for Android 4.4.3 KitKat to a bunch more handsets very soon. We can expect to see the Google Play Edition and unlocked Nexus devices to see the update first and then for it to trickle down the carriers.
The bugs fixed include problems with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. There are also a few problems with data connections, camera bugs, missed calls and random reboots which should be fixed with this new update.
No other manufacturers have unveiled which devices will be receiving the new update, only time will tell, but we do know what is coming with the update.
Previously, Android Police published a list of the bug fixes coming with the new version, but it’s important to note there may be more coming inside the update. After the jump is what we know will be fixed so far:
•Frequent data connection dropout fix
•mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
•Camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
•Power Manager display wakelock fix
•Multiple Bluetooth fixes
•Fix for a random reboot
•App shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
•USB debugging security fix
•App shortcuts security fix
•Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
•Other camera fixes
•MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
•Stuck in activation screen fix
•Missed call LED fix
•Subtitle fixes
•Data usage graph fix
•Internet telephony fix
•FCC compliance fix
•Miscellaneous fixes
So there's no big change in the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update. We expect to see the big changes including a bunch of new features to come with Android 4.5. For more details on what we know about Android 4.5, including a look at the brand new UI design, head down to the bottom of this article or here.
After the next jump is what we knew before the release of Android 4.4.3 KitKat.
According to rumours, it’s looking pretty certain Android 4.4.3 will be landing in the near future. Knowing Google it’s likely to be announced and released on Nexus devices over the course of a few hours rather than a slow process over the course of several weeks or months.
Other sources are claiming the update is in the “dogfooding” stages over at Google. Dogfooding is tech slang term for extensive internal beta testing. Essentially everyone working on the update is now eating their own dog food and testing the software to its absolute limit to work out as many of the kinks and bugs as possible.
It’s not just those working specifically on Android 4.4.3, it’s also 1% of Google employees who don’t work on the Android team. The devices being tested are currently limited to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 7 (2013) and the Nexus 10. It’s thought the Motorola Moto X will soon be tested and then all the Google Play editions of various handsets. After all the major issues are worked out, Google will then release the update to the public.
The first leak of the software update came from Android developer LlabTooFeR who took to Twitter to confirm the news.
Android 4.4.3 is under testing. Build number is KTU72B. Probably it will fix known camera bug.

He didn’t share any specific details on the next version of the software. Nexus devices are likely to be up first for the update like normal. The next update is rumoured to be called KTU72B. The current version is KOT49H and is only available on a small number of Nexus handsets. Android 4.4 KitKat has been a little more buggy on Nexus handsets, especially the Nexus 5 and its battery drain so Google is hard at work to improve it with these smaller updates.
Is this the update designed to fix the Nexus 5's tempremental camera?
Google already issued one update around a month after launch, but
reports suggest the company is looking to further refine the imaging
capabilities of its current flagship handset. It is also unclear whether
the update will bring any new features; it could just as easily be a
bug fix ahead of the larger, more feature-rich 4.5 update.
What new features does Android 4.4.3 bring with it? Nothing major it seems, it’s likely to be an update to fix a load of the bugs which came with the original Android 4.4 overhaul. Here’s a screenshot of a Nexus 5 running the software.

Previously we heard a rumour of Android 4.5 dropping in July – although we'll know a lot more in the run up to Google's I/O 2014 conference. It is thought it may accompany a Nexus 8 tablet, which many reports suggest could also be launched at I/O 2014 in June. Google's next-generation Nexus slate is tipped to hit mass production in early-Q2, meaning a release in the latter part of the quarter is entirely possible.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat Beta In Overdrive, Release Coming Soon
Google is apparently hard at work on Android 4.4.3, an incremental update to the company’s existing KitKat software, which will land ahead of the next major iteration of Android, thought to be version 4.5 (or, perhaps even 5.0)According to rumours, it’s looking pretty certain Android 4.4.3 will be landing in the near future. And Then There’s Android 4.5
It seems the next major update for Android is coming sooner than we think. Android 4.5 is expected to be the biggest update to the Android platform for quite some time. One leak has provided a screenshot showing off a brand new UI. If it’s real, it shows Android will be following suit of iOS 7 and the brand new TouchWiz UI on Samsung devices to make flat icons. If you want to see the full screenshot of the Android version codenamed “Moonshine” you can find it here.
